Pujas or Prayers
People in Buddhist cultures have relied on the prayers of nuns for centuries. The nuns, as full-time spiritual practitioners develop deep wisdom and great kindness, which make their prayers especially effective. In Buddhism, prayers and offerings are expressions of “honour, worship, devotional attention” and are performed by the nuns regularly for the benefit of all sentient beings.
Requesting Prayers or Offerings to be performed
In times of need, you can request the nuns to perform prayers on your behalf. You don’t have to be a Buddhist to benefit. You can request prayers for healing, long life, removing obstacles, support for the dying and the dead, and so forth. You can also dedicate a prayer to someone, for a specific purpose, or give a prayer as a gift.
Traditionally, Buddhist prayers and rituals are performed by the nuns without a specific cost because the Buddhist lay-people would donate as generously as they were able. In today’s world, many people are not familiar with a culture of mutual giving, so recommended donations are listed below for each prayer service. Please use these "recommended donations" as guidelines when making your donation.
If you are requesting a puja for someone, please provide their name and relevant information, such as specific dates (date of death, etc.) or illnesses in the "comments" section in your shopping cart.
